Commercial Pilot Licence / Instrument Rating with Frozen Airline Transport Pilot Licence Course (CPL/IR with Frozen ATPL)
The CPL/IR (A) with Frozen ATPL is the main course conducted at HMA. It is the basic licence required towards becoming a professional pilot with a commercial airline.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- Letter of approval from Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia
- Successful completion of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or its equivalent for overseas cadet pilots with a minimum of five (5) credits including English, Mathematics and a Science subject
- Minimum age of seventeen (17) years
- Successful medical examination Class I with requisite certificate from DCA approved medical practitioner
- Adequate competency in the English language
COURSE DURATION
The duration of this course is approximately sixty-five (65) weeks / fifteen (15) months for a total of 1075 hours of flight and ground training. The course must be taken on a full-time basis.
COURSE CONTENT - FLIGHT TRAINING
Flight training consists of 200 hours which includes:-
- 145 hours solo and dual — Single engine (Socata TB 10 Tobago GT and Diamond DA-40 TDI aircraft)
- 20 hours dual — FNPT-II using twin engine Diamond 42 glass-cockpit layout
- 35 hours dual — Twin engine (Diamond 42 glass-cockpit aircraft)
GROUND TRAINING
Ground training consists of 875 hours which includes the subjects below:-

When a candidate has successfully completed the flight and ground training, he or she will be issued with a CPL/IR with Frozen ATPL. In order to convert to a full ATPL license, the individual must be at least 21 years of age and has accumulated 1,500 hours of flying hours.
